What to Do
Activities in Athens
A coastal city with long and storied history, unique cultural experiences, a vibrant nightlife and an array of culinary delights Athens is a very popular weekend destination that is diverse enough to cater to all tastes.
Source – Personal experience your mileage may vary
EAT & DRINK
There is a wide variety of options to tickle your taste buds.
From street food like a souvlaki on the go, traditional Greek dishes at a local taverna, to Michelin star restaurants, Athens has you covered when it comes to food.
You can wash all that down with an excellent Greek wine of your choice or one of the new local beers that are now in fashion. Plenty of great bars and a vibrant nightlife are also a big plus if you want an excuse to keep on drinking after dinner.
RELAX
If you feel like slowing down a bit the city has you covered as well.
You can read your favorite book by the sea at one of the many beaches that surround the city.
If you are not a morning person or don’t like the sun an evening movie in one of the open air theaters or a theatrical play is the way to go.
For all the hours of the day in-between feel free to take a cue from the locals and indulge in some people watching at one of the many excellent cafes.
EXPLORE
Athens is a city with a history spanning more than two millennia.
You can visit the Parthenon, the Acropolis museum and the National archeological museum! duh…
But apart from the blatantly obvious trio mentioned above there are also many lesser known ones such as the Numismatic, Byzantine and Cycladic art museums.
But not everything is about history. There are a ton of other diversions like art galleries and the National botanical garden to discover.
